Welcome Matt Young to Groundline
Matt has joined Groundline’s Cable Division as an EHV Cable Design Engineer and is based out of the London office.
Matt’s role involves investigating and delivering effective, problem‑solving cable design proposals that meet customer requirements. His work includes calculating and checking abroad range of EHV cable designs in line with relevant technical standards, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of complex projects.
Matt chose to join Groundline due to the company’s extensive cabling expertise and its continued growth within the industry, and he is looking forward to contributing to this success while developing his own career. He has set his sights on working towards Chartership as part of his professional journey with the company.
Bringing valuable experience to the team, Matt also has a background in subsea cables and cable failure investigations, including hands‑on dissection work and microscopy, offering a well‑rounded and practical perspective to cable engineering challenges.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys hiking with family and friends, playing golf, and supporting Chelsea. He’s currently training for an ultra‑marathon and also spends time looking after his pet hamster, Strikerbomb.
